FedRooms partners have put teams in place to ensure brand-wide compliance with new protocols and cleanliness programs

Cleanliness Remains a Key Focus for Hotel Brands

As we approach the end of 2020, FedRooms hotel partners have been implementing and perfecting brand specific cleanliness programs for many months now. Keeping travelers safe is a key focus this year, as always, amidst the COVID-19 health crisis.

Our Summer Check-In Newsletter included details about the new industry-wide protocols and a highlight of specific brand initiatives focused on traveler health and safety.

Since the launch of those new initiatives, some of our partners have put teams in place to ensure brand-wide compliance with the new protocols and cleanliness programs. IHG, for example, has a quality team that is responsible for auditing on the IHG Clean Promise. The team audits quarterly and designates a pass/fail grade to properties within the brand. If a hotel fails, they have 30 days to make appropriate adjustments.

Drury has also designated a task force to create and enforce its Clean + Safe initiatives with consistency across all of its properties. Family owned and operated, Drury has won 14 consecutive J.D. Power guest-satisfaction awards, setting the record for the most consecutive wins in the J.D. Power hotel category. Its focus on consistent policies has allowed Drury to transition seamlessly from previous offerings to more socially distanced options, such as Grab & Go meals, Team Service with shields in place, social distancing markers and arrows to demonstrate traffic flow.

Hyatt is also closely monitoring property compliance with the Global Care and Cleanliness Commitment. To ensure its hotels are creating a safe environment, every Hyatt property is in the process of seeking Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR accreditation through the implementation of a performance-based cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention program. There are 20 GBAC STAR Program elements in place for facilities to demonstrate that correct systems are in place to prepare, respond, and recover from outbreaks and pandemics. By the end of January, all Hyatts globally will be GBAC STAR approved.

Wyndham launched a new mobile app this year, focusing on a low-contact guest experience in addition its Count on Us program. According to Jessica Davidson, Wyndham’s Senior Vice President of Digital, “our new app could not have arrived at a more critical time. The pandemic has propelled digital adoption and travelers now expect streamlined, low-contact experiences.”
