Elite Loyalty Program Status Extension

A lot has changed for frequent travelers throughout the span of the pandemic. As we enter the fall of 2021, many of you might be wondering how your loyalty program status at your favorite hotels might change in the future.

Travelers can rest assured that your favorite hotel brands are doing their best to accommodate you in this ever changing environment. We have compiled some highlights from our partner hoteliers’ loyalty programs, many extending through 2022 and beyond.

Hyatt: At the end of 2020, Hyatt Hotels lowered the requirements by 50% for earning all elite tiers in 2021. Any status earned in 2021 will be valid all the way through February of 2023.

Hilton: Hilton Honors also slashed the requirements needed to reach Elite status in half, for optimum flexibility. Travelers who earn Elite status in 2021 will enjoy that status through March 31, 2023.

IHG: IHG Rewards lowered Elite status requirements by 25 percent, rolled over 2020 qualifying nights to 2021, and automatically extended all members’ program status through January 2022. Points never expire for all members with Elite status (Gold, Platinum and Spire).

Marriott: Earlier this year, Marriott Bonvoy awarded 2020 Elite Status members half of the required elite night credits needed to achieve status in 2021 for free. It also lowered the spending threshold for achieving its highest Ambassador Elite status and paused the expiration of points until March 31, 2022.
